Observer is one of those few horror games that doesn’t get too much attention but is among some of the genre’s greats. The mystery main character Daniel Lazarski is thrust into is one filled with unique takes on horror, achieved mostly without jumpscares. If you’re one of the few who’s played it, you know exactly what I’m talking about. I’m glad to say that as of today, many more will get to play this hidden gem. Observer: System Redux is now available on next-gen consoles and PC, giving next-gen users a taste of its horrors and PC users a facelift. You can check out the Observer: System Redux launch trailer below.

What is Observer: System Redux?

Observer System Redux - Launch Trailer

Observer: System Redux tells the story of Daniel Lazarski a futuristic detective known as an Observer. Observers are your standard detectives but with one substantial twist, they possess a tool that can explore people’s minds. This lets them solve cases much more easily, with the victim’s or suspect’s mind at their disposal. In the future, your deepest fears and dreams are at the mercy of Observers. This dark dystopian reality thrusts Daniel into a personal quest, one that will determine his fate and that of those around him.

There isn’t a simple port in Observer: System Redux though. The game makes full use of next-gen hardware, offering plenty of upgrades to better immerse you in this terrible world. There’s 4K support, improved textures, fresh models, new animations, and better effects. There’s no doubt that Observer: System Redux will look stunning on the new hardware. Don’t take it from me though. Here’s Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, to tell you just how much better it is:

Weโ€™re excited to bring our award-winning dark cyberpunk thriller [Observer: System Redux] to PlayStation 5 with upgraded visuals and new stories. The team has taken full advantage of everything the PlayStation 5 has to offer, especially all the opportunities to use the DualSense controller to build player immersion. Weโ€™ve envisioned the DualSense haptic feedback system as a way to better bridge the gap between the experiences players see and hear in the game by tying them to sensations felt in the real world.”
