This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information.

After a successful Open Beta weekend for the guys over at VRmadillo, their upcoming StressOut title is entering its Early Access phase on December 10.

StressOut thrives in creating a playground for destruction. Stuck inside a shopping mall, you’re given open space to smash nearly anything in sight. But the wicked AI being that has you trapped has also frozen time itself. The only way out is to cause as much trouble as you possibly can.

Unleash Your Frustrations in StressOut

The VR trailer for StressOut features all of the joyful madness with Offenbach’s Can-Can “Orpheus in the Underworld”. By adding in the iconic composition piece, the presented action rings back to childhood desires to make a mess without cleaning up. Identically, the player uses abilities that go hand-in-hand with child-like imagination, such as finger guns and item absorption.

The developers revealed their inspiration for creating StressOut:

You see, it’s in our nature, or at least it was when we were kids, to try to break things. Then we are taught not to do that because people tend to get mad at you. If you break stuff as an adult, there are consequences. You have to reimburse the owner and maybe find yourself in trouble with the authorities. That is why we created StressOut, a world where one can go beyond the limitations of the real world”

StressOut‘s design makes excellent use of the Valve Index’s finger tracking system. You can make unique gestures while you continue to master your powers through continuous waves of mayhem. Moreover, “WTF” levels dial the insanity level to a higher notch with gravity switched off. Big buildings can also be demolished with heavy objects.

StressOut hands perspective

More features are to come. Interested fans can sign up for StressOut‘s monthly newsletter for updates. Also, you can wishlist the title now through its Steam page. The official Early Access release dates are December 10 for Steam and December 14 on HTC’s Viveport.

Are you interested in causing some destruction in StressOut? Do you have any inner frustrations you’d like to take out through video gaming? Be sure to leave a comment below!
