Halo: MCC Season 5 Mister Chief
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

As promised late last year, Halo: The Master Chief Collection‘s latest season update has finally dropped this month. Halo: MCC Season 5, titled “Anvil,” comes with over 100 total player customization items. And if you find the Halo Online armors clash too much with 3‘s style, you are able to disable the new armors in the options menu as well. 343 Industries community manager Postums wrote that Anvil would run for “roughly two months.” Now let’s see what this season has to offer.

First of all, in case you forgot since they delayed the release twice, the long-lost Halo: Reach armor pieces, AKIS and MARINER, is now available for you to get. As a surprise, 343 Industries is also adding a fan-favorite “Mister Chief” variant for the MARINER helmet. In total (counting Halo 3 updates), there are 80 pieces of new armor customization options we are getting with Halo: MCC Season 5. Shame that the Elite player model still doesn’t get anything. Oh well, maybe in another season.

In addition to that, Halo: MCC Anvil is also adding 12 unique seasonal challenges. With the term “seasonal” in mind, make sure to quickly complete the challenges and earn the exclusive rewards before this season ends. Here are some of them:

  • Because You Begged – Perform an Assassination against an Elite to survive a fall that would’ve been fatal in the Halo: Reach campaign.
    • Reward: Mister Chief Mariner Helmet and 77,000 XP.
  • Release the Geese! – Complete the Halo 3 mission “Halo” on Legendary with all players in Mongeese at the end of the mission.
    • Reward: Hazard Pay Mongoose skin and 77,000 XP.
  • Challenge: Combo Maker – Complete the “Guilty Shot” and “Who, What, Win” challenges.
    • Reward: Lucky Shot BR skin and 77,000 XP.
    • ‘Guilty Shot’: get 343 headshot medals with the Battle Rifle in matchmade games. Gives you three Season Points and 50,000 XP.
    • ‘Who, What, Win’: win 25 ranked matchmade games. Gives you three Season Points and 50,000 XP.
  • Challenge: Strong in the Week – Complete 30 weekly challenges.
    • Reward: Quickdraw Nameplate, 4 Season Points, 200,000 XP.
  • Nameplates:
    • Black History Month: log in during February 2021.
    • Women’s History Month: log in at any time during March 2021.

However, unlike previous months, this time around, 343 Industries did not give us a sneak peek at what features will be coming for the next season’s update. Not particularly surprising since there are no longer new Halo titles to be added to the collection. But that means we will have to wait a bit until official mod support, PC split-screen, and additional features are added into the game.

For more details, jump into the game, head over to the Halo Waypoint’s Anvil post, Armor Online post, or watch Halo: MCC team’s new video blog series Seasonal Sitrep. Stay tuned for more Halo info and news in the future.
