The indie market for the last few years has become it’s most volatile in recent memory. With tons of ideas that get lost in the sea of unoriginality and obscurity, there are always just a few exclusive titles wanting to do things differently. For developer Four Quarters, they have taken this idea much more literally in thinking outside the box. Loop Hero is a veritable mashup of several game types that all work in conjunction with each other’s systems. As an idle game, deck builder, and city designer; the roles a player identifies with changes. Originally revealed at Devolver Digital’s Game Awards, Loop Hero has gone on to become a massive indie success. Debuted as their pick for the game of next year, Loop Hero has sold quite well over its release window just a week ago. The team put out a tweet commemorating the sales finally reaching over half a million players.
Loop Hero has passed 500,000 copies sold and we're celebrating by launching new Steam trading cards from @BardtheZombie ! Thank you all so much!

With numbers like that in such a short amount of time, it’s easy to see how the appeal of Loop Hero has garnered such a massive audience. Taking so many different ideas and combining them into one giant game that plays like a real-time RPG is very attractive to many types of players. Despite not being interested in one subgenre or group, developer Four Quarters were able to successfully pick out key systems they wanted to interact with each other and it’s a great use of genre-blending game design.
The team also detailed the upcoming news of updates set to launch for Loop Hero very soon. While there are no set dates or confirmed amounts of content that we will see, you can expect to have a healthy lifespan for the title as the devs seem very excited to cultivate a nice community. You can find all the details on the update here on their Steam Community page. Loop Hero is currently only available on PC through Steam or Epic.
