A brand new Final Fantasy game is coming to mobile this year, 2021 – Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. Square Enix released additional details about this new battle royale game dropping to iOS and Android users. It takes place before the events of FFVII, and players will get to play as potential SOLDIER candidates.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is a mobile battle royale game where you can use both melees and ranged attacks (usually guns). There is also a shield system that has the visual stylings of Sephiroth’s Scintilla attack. Players can buff their teammates or even help them jump higher. Aside from the usual ammo and HP, you will also have MP, which you can use for buffs.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will have a simultaneous release worldwide. Its co-developer, Ateam, announced that the game would have seven different languages available: Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, French, German, and Spanish.
The developer also shared that Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will have the same release date around the world in 2021. Talks about in-game transactions are still undecided as they have not yet determined how they will execute them. In the meantime, they said that they are looking at how their rivals treat monetization and also how to reduce any potential lags in the game.
If you will notice, the setting is in Midgar, three decades before the iconic FFVII main story, according to its Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura. He also shared that you will also get to see legendary heroes in their younger days. This includes a young version of Shinra executives and other characters in the game.
It is likely that Aerith, Cloud, and Tifa are not yet born during this time, but you may meet President Shinra, Vincent Valentine, Professor Hojo, and more. What do you think about this mobile battle royale game from Square Enix? Will you cop or drop? Let me know in the comments!
