Last year, Keanu Reeves announced that he was working on a comic book called BRZRKR with co-writer Matt Kindt and artist Ron Garney. Now the first issue is here, and fans are enjoying it. Not only that, but Netflix also seems keen on adapting the story into a movie and animated TV series.

A report by THR confirmed Netflix’s ambition to bring Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR debut to our screens. In addition to seeing his vision get the Netflix treatment, Reeves himself will produce and feature in the movie. It is unconfirmed who he will play. Given his talents, it’s possible he could play “B,” the protagonist. Additionally, he’ll voice the anime. The streamer picked up the rights to the Boom! Studios property and plan to adapt it into a move and an anime spinoff. So far, Ross Richie and Stephen Christy of Boom! Studios and Stephen Hamel of Company Films join Reeves as producers.

Exciting news! Netflix is developing a live action film AND follow-up anime series based on Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR, a brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000 year fight through the ages. Reeves will produce and star in the film, and voice the anime. pic.twitter.com/RVWEuBCXTJ

The first issue of the comic instantly became a bestseller, selling over 615,000 copies. The plan is for the comic to run for 12 issues in total. BRZRKR  chronicles the life of “B,” a half-mortal, half-god warrior in an 80,000-year fight through the ages. After centuries of fighting, he ends up working for the US government, where he fights foes too powerful for anyone else to face. In exchange for his work, he’ll be granted the truth about his long existence. The movie will follow the plot of the comic, expanding and building upon the rich world Reeves created, while the spinoff will be an original idea created for television.

Of course, Keanu Reeves is a busy man. Most recently, he finished filming on The Matrix 4, which is slated to air on Dec. 22, 2021. Finally, this spring, he will begin work on John Wick 4.
