“WELCOME TO OPIS”
Step aboard the mysterious OPIS space station in the Faraday Protocol, an upcoming first-person puzzle journey from Italian studio Red Koi Box.
In the Faraday Protocol, the player follows the alien archaeologist Raug, who is attempting to uncover the secrets of an abandoned space facility. Riddled with puzzles left and right, the OPIS houses a series of mental jump ropes for the player to overcome. In addition, a controlling Artificial Intelligence can be heard as Raug traverses through the station. Who is she, though? And what happened here? Only by working out the puzzles can the answers come to you.
Moreover, Raug utilizes a special tool that’ll help with getting around the OPIS. Dubbed the “Bia-Tool”, this device allows the player to absorb energy and then redistribute it. There are different forms of energy that are present in the game, with color coordination representing individual uniqueness.
As seen in the announcement trailer for the game, the Bia-Tool will be used frequently. It seems like it’s the only item Raug will be using in the game. The trailer also showcases the sci-fi art deco splendor that the OPIS contains. Coupled with the sketchy A.I.’s voiceover, it’s perplexing in itself when attempting to decipher key elements in the game’s story.
