Sony has revealed plans to host the next all-things PlayStation State of Play broadcast later this week, with a particular focus on the next big-name PlayStation 5 exclusive, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

The platform holder nestled the news in a PlayStation Blog post published today showcasing a brand new trailer for Sony-owned Insomniac Games’ third-person shooter platform. The trailer introduces a new playable protagonist to the Rift Apart fold, a resistance fighter Lombax from another dimension called Rivet. The very same mysterious hero teased by Sony last year.

Fans also caught a peek at a selection of new locations, including retooled versions of old favorites like Sargasso and Torren IV, fresh weapons, new gameplay mechanics, and yet another thrilling look at the frenetic dimension-hopping set to form a core part of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Here’s the trailer below. Bump it up to 4K for a visual treat.

PlayStation State of Play

The State of Play broadcast showcase, which will air on Thursday, April 29th at 2 pm PST/5 pm EST and 11 pm CET for folks in Europe, will feature a 15-minute chunk of extended gameplay from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart alongside ‘updates on a pair of upcoming indie titles’ as PlayStation explains on Twitter. No word on the identity of this duo of indies, though, but we’d wager one of those highlighted by Sony late last year as a strong possibility, chiefly Kena: Bridge of Spirits.

“Want to see more? We’re pleased to announce that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the focus of PlayStation’s next State of Play. And it’s just three days away. Tune in to the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels this Thursday, April 29 at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern to see more than 15 minutes of fresh gameplay.”

A new full-length standalone adventure set to showcase what Sony’s next-gen console can really do, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is set for release on June 11th for PlayStation 5.
