A Plague Tale: Requiem has just been announced during Bethesda and
The original title’s plot surrounds two siblings Amicia and Hugo, who live in an English-occupied Aquitaine, France; during the Hundred Years War. Even better? The Black Death has reached their shores and the Inquisition is becoming more prominent in their persecutions due to the bubonic plague (Black Death), and political trials of the time (again, ie: Hundred Years War). Although they are related by blood, the siblings are isolated from each other due to Hugo being born with a chronic illness that has left him bedridden.
Soon the siblings must leave home and work together to avoid inquisition soldiers who seek Hugo who holds a special ability to *spoiler alert* control the plague, itself. He is basically like the guy in the movie Willard. Whether it is Bruce Davidson or Crispin Glover is entirely up to the reader who understands this reference…except Hugo is more powerful. Anyway, apart from avoiding the inquisition they must avoid paranoid villagers and various obstacles predominantly through stealth and solving puzzles.
What to Expect in the Tale of Requiem
In A Plague Tale: Requiem, similar gameplay is to be expected. Asobo, the French company behind both games, gave us a sneak peek at E3 2021 of a game teaser. In the trailer we once again see a return of the two main characters, Amicia and Hugo. It is expected to have similar gameplay mechanics much like the original. However, Asobo did mention that the options in Requiem, allow one to either engage in battle or stealthily avoid it. In the original game stealth was more heavily implemented because both characters aren’t trained in battle and aren’t a physical match against many of their adversaries. Although, later in the game, Amicia can do headshots with her sling and Hugo can eventually control hoards of rats. In the sneak peek, it is revealed that Amicia is wielding a crossbow and is wearing light armor. Which…is awesome! Not a bad character development.
Requiem is still in its development stages. Following Requiem’s announcement fans of the series have shown a great deal of excitement within the past few hours. It looks beautiful, the characters have seemingly grown, and the studio seems very excited on their developments thus far. In the meantime we shall just have to eagerly wait for new developments.
