After co-starring in the crossover fighting game Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle, Rooster Teeth’s popular web series RWBY is getting another standalone game. Titled RWBY: Arrowfell, the company announced (via Gematsu) that the game is currently being developed by WayForward and will be published by Arc System Works for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in 2022.
RWBY: Arrowfell is a four-player side-scrolling action game described as an “original interactive chapter” taking place during the events of RWBY Volume 7. You and three other friends will take control of Team RWBY, consisting of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long, exploring Atlas, Mantle, and numerous surrounding environments. When playing solo you can easily switch between each member on the fly.
Along your adventure, you will face off against the Creatures of Grimm, other familiar enemies from the show, and never-before-seen threats. The crew also runs across some old friends, including General Ironwood and the Ace Operatives, as well as a fearless new bunch of Huntresses known as Team BRIR.
In addition to being written by series writers Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, and Eddy Rivas, original voiceover casts are included, such as Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech, and Barbara Dunkleman. RWBY: Arrowfell also features original music from Dale North (The Long Return) with Casey Lee Williams contributing as a vocalist. For die-hard fans, the game even contains seven minutes of exclusive animated cutscenes along with a dynamic new hand-drawn art style for the in-game visuals. Kerry promises that the team will deliver a dream game that will be worth the wait next year.
I am beyond excited to finally share details around our new video game, RWBY: Arrowfell. This is a match made in Remnant! Rooster Teeth, WayForward, and Arc System Works are mutual fans of one another, so this is truly a dream come true for all of us. I’ve always thought a RWBY game in this vein would be perfect and it’s so incredible to see it come to life. We hope fans are as thrilled as we are when this all-new action-adventure releases next year. Believe me, it will be worth the wait!”
It doesn’t have a 3D visual like in Grimm Eclipse and they haven’t shown more details about the gameplay, but does the teaser look exciting enough for you? Tell us what you think of it in the comments below.
