Capcom announced today a Resident Evil Re:Verse delay, pushing the release of the competitive multiplayer survival horror shooter mode for Resident Evil Village to 2022. Re:Verse pits between four and six players playing as beloved characters from the RE series in head-to-head points-based 5-minute death-matches.

The Japanese developer shared the news on Twitter earlier today, citing a desire to deliver a ‘smooth gameplay experience’ following several lackluster beta tests earlier this year as the reason behind the delay. Capcom initially planned to launch Resident Evil Re:Verse in May alongside the acclaimed Resident Evil Village before pushing back release to an unspecified date in July. This latest release date reshuffle means fans shouldn’t expect the game for another six months, best case scenario.

The previously announced July 2021 launch of Resident Evil Re:Verse is being moved to 2022 so that the team can continue working to deliver a smooth gameplay experience. We will share updated launch details at a later time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Resident Evil Re:Verse Delay – Download Code

Capcom advised that those who’ve purchased a physical boxed copy of Resident Evil Village should keep their download code for Re:Verse handy or, better, redeem it now to add it to their account in anticipation of the game’s release next year.

For players who purchased a physical version of Resident Evil Village, we recommend that you keep track of the included Resident Evil Re:Verse download code or add it to your account now so that you are ready to play when the game launches next year.

Capcom stopped short of providing more specifics other than a vague 2022 release but promised to share updated launch information later on. The developer plans to release Re:Verse on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One when it does finally arrive.
