It’s the first Thursday of September, which means it’s time for yet another free offering on the Epic Games Store! Last week actually brought out the big guns (quite literally in some cases) with both Automachef and Saints Row: The Third Remastered being up for grabs. This was mainly to celebrate the announcement of the Saints Row reboot releasing next year but was a welcome celebration on all fronts. This week looks to bring a singular title to the mix, with another single title making its way in next week. Starting today until September 9, you can pick up Yoku’s Island Express for free from the Epic Games Store! And next week, the indie title Sheltered will be making its debut in the program.

Yoku's Island Express Gameplay

Yoku’s Island Express may look strange on the surface (and that’s because it is) but it’s a game that has received endless praise. Bug-like creature Yoku has landed on the island of Mokumana, looking to make an easy life on the island delivering packages and having a calm existence. That existence is disrupted though when an ancient Island deity is woken up from its slumber, ready to wreak havoc on the land’s residents. As Yoku, it’s up to you to ensure the island and those on it don’t succumb to the deity’s wrath, using all sorts of pinball mechanics and platforming. Trust me when I say this is an adventure you won’t soon forget.

As the Epic Games Store describes, Yoku’s Island Express features an amazing open world, filled with luscious, beautiful locations to explore and encounters to face. With some epic boss battles and a captivating story, the adventure of little Yoku is sure to be an exciting one. That’s not even mentioning the beautiful, hand-drawn artwork of its backdrops.

Will you be picking this title up off the store? What are you hoping for out of the next title, Sheltered? Let me know in the comments below!
