Today’s September 2021 PlayStation Showcase stream didn’t just put the highlights on the “next-gen” PS5 console. One of Sony’s flagship titles, Gran Turismo 7, will be released simultaneously for both the PS5 and PS4 on March 4, 2022, Sony and developer Polyphony Digital announced. Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi aims to create the latest title in the series as a celebration of the last 150 years of car and racing culture, by delivering the best with the return of classic cars, iconic tracks, and fan-favorite modes like GT Simulation.

From the Porsche 356 to the Toyota GT500, both veterans that stay with PS4 or newcomers that are looking for new games on their PS5 can look at Gran Turismo 7 as a “car collecting game”, by collecting cars from the past, present, and future through progressing and completing missions in the GT Café mode. Then once you get your favorite(s) into your garage, customize their look with a wide selection of liveries in the Livery Editor.

To capture that perfect shot, the new Scapes feature allows you to have complete control of photorealistic shots in photo spots across 43 countries and over 2,500 locations. Thanks to HDR support and expert-level effects you can manually add. Watch how robust both the Livery Editor and Scapes features are in the trailer below.

But of course, Gran Turismo 7 isn’t all about showing off how your cars look — but how you drive as well. GT Auto makes a comeback, and here you can freely modify your car wheels, adding roll cages, other aerodynamic parts, adjustments on engine, brakes, and even oil changes and car wash. Gran Turismo 7 team promises that the smallest of changes will have different effects on the behavior of the vehicle.

After all of that, compete in the GT Campaign mode or multiplayer matches across the franchise’s historic circuits all over the world like Trial Mountain and High-Speed Ring. Since the team has researched a “massive amount” of meteorological data, towering buildings and wet race tracks will have a much more complex visual than previous titles and will be a feast to the eyes. With this release, do you think Gran Turismo will once again be able to compete with Forza and other, newer racing simulator series out there? Tell us what you think in the comments, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for more nerd and gaming updates.
