Returnal DLC Beta Branch
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

One of the breakout successes on the PS5 is Housemarque’ss Returnal. Blending roguelike dungeons and third-person gunplay makes for a spectacular title. While the game has just launched a mere six months ago, players have been asking for many features. One such hotly requested addition was a save feature allowing users to pick up and put down dungeon runs as they please. Alongside that, the game has drawn some criticism for some trophy blocking bugs that can prevent players from unlocking a Platinum. While those are speculated features and fixes, Returnal has seen an update to its beta branch. Despite not being officially released, the size certainly gives room for reasonable speculation. The official PS5 database received a 6GB update to the developer branch hinting at a Returnal Update or even DLC.

What Does the Returnal Beta Branch Update Mean for DLC?

While not much is known now about the possible update, the PlayStation Store update size is enough to speculate on. While the base game features just six areas to explore, fans have speculated about future content updates. Whether it’s a boss rush mode or photo mode for taking cool shots, there’s plenty of room for upgrades. Still, the update might just be fixing the buggy code by replacing it meaning there really is no new content. Fixing various bugs sounds like an update less than 6 GB, but with no word yet on future details; all we have is speculation. It’s even possible that this upcoming update will include long-awaited features to announce future DLC. Despite having been silent for the past few months, Housemarque is certainly keeping quiet for a reason. Whenever that reveal might be, check back for all the latest on what’s to come for Returnal DLC.
