A new trailer for the upcoming Gotham Knights game dropped at the DC FanDome event, which introduces us to the mysterious Court of Owls, along with some incredible new story footage. We haven’t heard much about the highly anticipated open-world action RPG recently, so this is some welcome news for DC fans and people who like everyone in the Batman universe that isn’t Batman. Check it out:

Gotham Knights: Official Court of Owls Story Trailer

Gotham Knights: Official Court of Owls Story Trailer | DC FanDome 2021

The trailer shows our titular Gotham Knights – a team that includes Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood – who find themselves in something of a pickle as they are captured by their avian adversaries. Fans of the comics will remember the Owls as the shadow organization that secretly controls much of Gotham and who had a unique obsession with Bruce Wayne. Given the predatory nature of owls and the snack-sized of bats, things don’t seem to have gone too well for Bruce this time around.

Not enough birds for you? Fear not: Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, also shows up to terrorize the Gotham Knights. And as we all know, you don’t want to mess with penguins.

In addition to the story trailer above, DC FanDome also saw the release of behind-the-scenes discussions with some of the comic artists and game creators about how they brought the story of the Owls to the world of Gotham Knights:

Gotham Knights were initially planned for release in 2021, but like most other things that were scheduled for release in 2021, it’s been pushed to some time in 2022. It’s being developed by studio WB Games Montreal, who also developed the well-received Batman: Arkham Origins. WB Games Montreal has been teasing us about Gotham Knights for a few years now, so here’s hoping we won’t have to wait much longer. The good news is that it’s planned for release on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, so there’s a good chance you won’t be left out.
