The action-packed FPS KINGDOM of the DEAD is officially arriving on Steam early next year. Set to launch on January 26, 2022, indie developer DIRIGO GAMES and publisher HOOK have unleashed a demo that players can try out right now through the game’s Steam page. Additionally, Alienware Arena will also include the KINGDOM of the DEAD demo on their website.

KINGDOM of the DEAD: A Homage to the Romeros of Horror

The spoils of war didn’t end during the 19th century. All the killing and despair has given Death all the necessary armies he needs to take over the living world. As his recruits emerge from the ground, one man is called to action. Agent Chamberlain, a professor turned General, will step up to the task to stop the invasion.

Armed to the teeth with eight unique weapons, Agent Chamberlain must face off against dissimilar enemy types and bosses along the US East Coast. He can also switch out the color palette to change up the scenery with supplemental cheat codes.

KINGDOM of the DEAD is stylized entirely in black & white hand-drawn visuals, something that rings familiar bells when it comes to thinking of early George A. Romero movies. And the gameplay runs like a classic FPS title that mashes fast-paced movement with intense gunplay; when watching the trailer, the nostalgic days of DOOM come to mind – where John Romero was once a developer for. It’s hard not to see this new action-horror game as a form of admiration for the two different Romeros. They’ve both contributed greatly to the action-horror genre with film and video games, and DIRIGO GAMES’ KINGDOM of the DEAD can be seen as recognition for them.

Players can expect KINGDOM of the DEAD to rise from the ground on January 26, 2022, for PC via Steam. The demo can be downloaded now through either the game’s Steam page or Alienware Arena. If you’re looking forward to trying out the new action-horror title, let us know in the comments below!
