Rockstar Games has finally drawn the curtains and unveiled the very first in-game footage of GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition. In case you missed the memo, the GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas trilogy are getting a remaster through the recently announced Definite Edition and will be available for all current console platforms and PC this November. However, with this release, the “legacy version” (read: original digital releases) of all three games has been taken down from all online storefronts.

Over on the official site, Rockstar Games wrote that GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Editionย will have “enhanced visuals” that improved graphics and fidelity across all three games, including higher resolution textures for greater detail, a completely rebuilt lighting system with enhanced shadows, reflections, improved water and weather effects, increased draw distances, and more. Watch the comparison between the original version of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas and the Definitive Edition in the trailer below.

Aside from visual changes, the GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Editionย remaster is also packed with additional gameplay upgrades to make the PS2 trilogy plays more like a modern game, including but not limited to:

  • GTA V-style controller layout.
  • Improved gunplay and targeting controls with upgraded drive-by controls in GTA: San Andreas.
  • Updated weapon and radio station selection wheels.
  • Updated mini-maps with enhanced navigation, allowing players to set waypoints.
  • An option to restart a failed mission.
  • New Rockstar Games Social Club Accomplishments.
  • Platform-specific features. From 4K resolution with “up to” 60 FPS on next-gen consoles and PC, NVIDIA DLSS support for PC, to touch screen camera and menu selections as well as gyro aiming for the Nintendo Switch version.

GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition will launch on November 11, 2021, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Rockstar Launcher (with a Steam release might be in the works). A physical release to follow on December 7 for Xbox Series X and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4. The iOS and Android versions are to be released in the first half of 2022.
