Gamers have eagerly anticipated the Spider-Man update in Marvel’s Avengers since day one of the game’s release. Well, PlayStation gamers, that is. Crystal Dynamics’ role-playing brawler will finally be debuting the beloved hero on November 30.
The addition of our friendly neighborhood hero was announced on Square Enix’s weekly War Table blog, along with a slew of other announcements. Several updates are in store for Marvel’s Avengers alongside Spider-Man. The Klaw Raid is also coming. According to Square Enix, “Following the events of the War for Wakanda Expansion, the sonic monster Klaw has returned to the Vibranium Mound with a seething determination to destroy Wakanda.” In this mission, players will finish off The Klaw “for good” in this new four-player raid.
Several improvements are coming to the game’s system when Spider-Man is added to Avengers as well. The maximum Power-Level will increase from 150 to 175. Gear upgrading is also coming to the game, with players able to “recycle gear of a higher power level to upgrade” current gear. In addition, “shipments” are paving a path for gamers to acquire some coveted cosmetic enhancements without having to shell out real money for them. Shipments will cost 500 Units (in-game currency), and there’s a slight chance each shipment will contain a premium outfit. The best part is that Shipments are not all about luck. Players will automatically receive an outfit after claiming 100 Shipments. Lastly, weekly objectives will now be granted to each hero per week rather than one hero per week. They are making it much easier to level up all of your heroes, including Spider-Man, when added to Avengers.
The last couple of weeks haven’t been going so well for Avengers, so maybe that’s why they announced Spider-Man now. Last week, Crystal Dynamics backtracked on their decision to create paid experience boosts after it caused an uproar with the player base. This week, Square Enix threw Crystal Dynamics under the bus and blamed them for the poor quality of Marvel’s Avengers, basically stating Crystal Dynamics didn’t have the skillset to develop such a game. Hopefully, these updates signify a turnaround for Marvel’s Avengers, and Spider-Man can save the day once again.
