Netflix has begun the rollout of its iOS game library today, one week after launching Netflix Games on Android. According to the streaming service’s announcement on Twitter yesterday, users will be able to play Netflix Games on iOS starting today, through the Netflix app. This move demonstrates intensified efforts by the streaming platform to encourage subscribers to consider gaming on Netflix.

An early check today showed that the games are not yet available via the app, but it is possible that rollout will not commence concurrently for all Netflix users.

Also, like the Android counterpart, the service will give all users with a Netflix subscription access to the titles at no additional cost. The game titles are also already available as standalone titles on the App Store. Users that try to download the Netflix Games on their iOS devices will be prompted to sign-up for Netflix, as a Netflix subscription is a basic requirement for access to the games.

Stranger Things: 1984 on the App Store as a standalone game

The streaming giants have big plans for their foray into the gaming industry. But for now, the Netflix games that will be available at launch are the same as those that were available for android a week ago. These include Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Teeter Up, and Card Blast.

Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story was announced to be coming soon to Netflix Games on iOS and Android devices.

According to how the announcement was worded, the games will be available through the Netflix App, just like on Android. But, it is yet to be seen if the service will stay true to the announcement and allow gaming on the Netflix app directly. Reports have remained skeptical as Apple’s current App Store policies don’t allow for game streaming services to offer multiple titles running through a single app. However, it is possible that Apple could make an exception for Netflix Games on iOS as it is not primarily a game streaming platform (the titles are also locally played and not streamed).
