Hulu has released the first photo of the cast of How I Met Your Father, which is set to premiere sometime next year. The show is a sequel to the CBS hit show How I Met Your Mother which ran from 2005 to 2014 for nine seasons and is considered legendary.
Variety says that the show will star Hilary Duff as Sophie who is telling her son the story of how she met his father. The show will bounce back to the present day where Sophie and her friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are and what they want out of life. While the show is set in Brooklyn, the show will be shot on a virtual set, the Infinity on Disney’s lot in Burbank, CA.
The plan for a spin-off of How I Met Your Mother has been going for a few years. Changes in lead writers have delayed the project, as has, undoubtedly, the COVID-19 pandemic.
Duff has said that the show will tie into the original sitcom, and she is hoping to see guest stars from that series make an appearance. Duff is coming off wrapping up her series Younger, which ran for seven seasons on TV Land before concluding this year. Recently, she was working on a reboot of her Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire, but she ended the show due to creative differences with Disney on how the character should be portrayed in her 30s.
Along with Duff, the cast will include Kim Cattrall, Chris Lowell, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, Francia Raisa, and Suraj Sharma.
