Croagunk is a Poison and Fighting-type Pokemon that made its debut in the long-running Pokemon series in Generation IV with 2006’s Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Not only was Croagunk among the new additions to the series with these games, but it also played a significant role in the anime as a running joke with Brock. With that presence in the show, it is fair to say Croagunk is one of the more recognizable Pokemon from this generation. Now, with players returning to the fourth generation with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, some players need a refresher on how to get Croagunk to evolve into Toxicroak. It is a relatively simple process once you know how to do it. This guide will explain how to evolve Croagunk in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

How to Evolve Croagunk Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Before trying to evolve Croagunk, you first need to catch one. There are several different locations across the Sinnoh region to find the frog-like Pokemon. The best place to look for Croagunk is in the Great Marsh in Pastoria City. You will want to walk through the tall grass; know that many other Pokemon can appear here, and you have about a 10% chance of the Pokemon that you will run into being a Croagunk. Just keep rolling the dice in this area, and you will eventually find one. Another area you can look through is the Grand Underground, specifically in the areas Swampy Cave, Riverbank Cave, Still-Water Cave, Bogsunk Cavern. Wherever you find Croagunk, catching it will put you on your way to evolving it.

Once you have the Croagunk, the actual process of evolving them is straightforward. There is no item needed to perform the evolution, and getting Croagunk to a Toxicroak only takes getting the Pokémon to a certain level. In this case, it is Level 37. This is a fairly high level for the level that you will likely find Croagunks in the wild, so be prepared to grind a little. Once your Croagunk reaches that level, it will evolve. You are going to want to make sure you feed Crogunk a rare candy to help speed up the grinding process, especially if you happen to catch a lower-level one out in the wild. If you happen to catch a Croagunk over this level, simply level up again and should evolve with no problem!

Both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are available now on the Nintendo Switch.
