Last week, Microsoft bought Activision, the owner of some of the biggest IPs in the game industry, including Call of Duty. PlayStation owners worry that Xbox might make these IPs Xbox exclusive. A French retailer has put a warning sign on PS5 consoles saying that Microsoft bought Activision.

Retail warnings have appeared in France

A Twitter user named HazzadorGamin spotted a warning notice on PS5s in the French supermarket chain retailer Cora. It is written on the notice that “Microsoft has bought Activision! Choose your machine carefully (Call of Duty).” Cora is a chained supermarket with more than 60 stores in France 20 more in Romania, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Apparently some retail store across globe have started putting up Notice for customers of Call of Duty.

Microsoft will make sure Call of Duty remains on PlayStation consoles

It was quite a shock to the video game industry and gamers when Microsoft announced its Activision Blizzard acquisition with a deal worth $70 billion. Activision Blizzard owns some of the biggest IPs in the industry, like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch.

According to NPD, Call of Duty Vanguard and Black Ops Cold War were the first and third of most selling games for PlayStation. Even if Microsoft turns Call of Duty into an exclusive Xbox IP, the company will lose a huge share of profit.

CEO of Xbox Phil Spencer officially announced that Call of Duty would be available on PlayStation platforms once the acquisition is complete. Xbox‘s acquisition is set to finish in the 2023 fiscal year.

Phil Spencer wrote in his tweet that he “had good calls this week with leaders at Sony” and confirmed that they will “keep Call of Duty on PlayStation.” Bloomberg later said a source of them has confirmed that Microsoft has the intention of releasing at least the next three Call of Duty games on PlayStation consoles.

There are rumors that Treyarch will work on a new Black Ops game released for next year, and Warzone 2 is also in development.
