Strategy game fans have been eating well as of late, with plenty of variety across the entire genre and heavy hitters left and right. From some of the biggest names such as XCOM and Crusader Kings III to indie hits such as Into the Breach and Ruined King, there’s more than enough variety depending on what you fancy. Next month, you can expect to see yet another hopeful masterpiece join the pot. The Iron Oath, a turn-based tactical RPG from the teams at Humble Games and Curious Panda Games, is making its debut into Steam early access on April 19! You can check out the official early access trailer below.

The Iron Oath - Early Access Release Date Trailer: Survive and Prosper | Humble Games

The Iron Oath isn’t as tame as most turn-based tactical RPGs may lead you to believe, as honor is a thing for an ideal world. This is the furthest from it. Choosing to fight rather than explore the ideals of simple peasantry, you’ll manage and grow your small band of soldiers as you hire recruits, tend to the needs of your current squad, and head on dangerous missions in your quest for gold and glory! But not every recruit will prove fit to join your battle against whatever enemies dare to challenge you. As the trailer puts it, only the strongest can command and lead your forces to victory. Will you run a strong mercenary company, or be doomed to fail just like the rest? That outcome is up to you.

While we’re still a month out from The Iron Oath’s early access release, there’s good news! To keep you company, The Iron Oath’s Steam Next Fest demo is still available to sink your teeth into. Be sure to jump in there and get but a taste of what’s on offer, if nothing else then to garner excitement for your future endeavors.

Will you dare to embark on your quest under The Iron Oath? What sort of riches do you hope to uncover? Let me know!
