The Netflix library has expanded once more, and this time not just for shows. With gaming hitting peaks of popularity never before seen, companies all over have decided to throw their hats in the ring. Netflix is one of these companies, alongside giants Facebook and Amazon. Major development began back in September. The list of acquired companies continues today, and this time, Netflix has acquired mobile game dev Boss Fight Entertainment. Netflix has been creating a small band of IPs focused on an indie or retro-style gaming. Some fresh new ideas can be expected with Boss Fight Entertainment on the Netflix team.
Boss Fight Has a Stellar Start, And More to Come
Boss Fight Entertainment is a relatively small and new company, but that doesn’t discount their success. After all, the company created the RPG mobile game Dungeon Boss. In a vein similar to Clash of Clans, players can collect a group of heroes (or monsters) as they raid dungeons and protect their own. The mobile game dev has attracted a fair amount of fans, which may be why Netflix was interested. Though it was released 7 years ago, the game is still popular today. With more funding, the dev company may be open to creating more interesting games.
Netflix Expands Horizons More and More
However, video games aren’t the only thing Netflix is regularly working on. Beyond this, they’ve been bankrolling a large number of anime series. Most often, they simply acquire the distribution rights of the anime. Certain anime has even been released weekly more recently to mimic the release schedule of anime seasons. Unfortunately, not every series has done well. Way of the House Husband, which Netflix entirely created, took a significant dive. It became more of a living comic than an animated series, disappointing fans. Hopefully, the game devs won’t experience the same bad luck.
