Destiny 2: The Relic Tether Explained
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

With the Witch Queen expansion release, Destiny 2 added a new but staple feature of any online game: weapon crafting. With it comes a slew of new in-game mechanics and resources. One of them is the Relic Tether, which was introduced in the April 19, 2022, weekly reset. Considering its rather cryptic name, it’s no wonder that most Guardians are perplexed by the inclusion of this item. Well, wonder no more; continue reading below for a quick explanation regarding Relic Tether in Destiny 2.

Relic Tether Explanation for Destiny 2

Destiny 2: The Relic Tether Explained

Despite the vague name, Relic Tether is actually a pretty useful item: it lets you quickly keep track of the number of crafting resources (also called Resonant Elements) you have without the need for third-party tools. Relic Tether shows up in the Consumable tab of the Inventory. Simply hover over it to see the full list of Elements and how many of them you possess. You can do this without needing to go into Orbit.

Go to The Enclave and look for the Relic to get yourself your own Relic Tether. Interact with the Relic Conduit on the left side of it, and it will give you the Relic Tether. If you accidentally dismantle it (or consciously did it for an item space), don’t worry. All you need to do is return to the Relic Conduit to receive another one.

Keeping an eye on all Elements for crafting weapons is a huge hassle, and this item will help you simplify the process. Nevertheless, Bungie has announced that the company is planning to phase out most of the crafting resources and only keep Neutral Elements for the next season, which will start around May 24, 2022. When that happens, who knows if Relic Tether will still be a relevant item in Destiny 2 or not.

Next Season, we are removing Ruinous, Adroit, Mutable, Drowned, and Energetic elements. Only Neutral Elements will remain.
