Espeon is a Psychic-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO that serves as one of the eight evolutions for the well-known Normal-type Eevee. This Psychic-type Pokémon is characterized by a cat-like body, a forked tail, and a red jewel between its purple eyes. According to this pocket monster’s lore, Espeon builds up its psychic power by soaking in the sunlight, a key hint regarding how its evolution takes place in Pokémon GO. The best offensive Moveset for Espeon is Confusion and Psychic, two Psychic-type abilities that can deal decent damage. Trainers could also replace Psychic with Future Sight or Confusion with Zen Headbutt.
How to Evolve Eevee into Espeon in Pokémon Go
There are two ways to trigger Eevee’s evolution into Espeon in Pokémon GO. The first method is by walking a total of 10 kilometers with Eevee as a Buddy and then feeding it Candy ×25. As mentioned above, Espeon’s Psychic power comes from sunlight, so this evolution process must be done during the day; otherwise, Eevee will turn into Umbreon.

To choose Eevee as a Buddy, scroll down to the bottom of the current Buddy Pokémon and select “Swap Buddies.” Find Eevee in the list of available Pokémon or type “Eevee” into the search bar. Bear in mind that Trainers in Pokémon GO are limited to 20 Swaps per day, meaning that if the player has already changed their Buddies for the maximum number of times, they will need to wait for the following day in real-time to get out their Eevee. Nonetheless, once Eevee has been set to being a Buddy, Trainers can begin their 10 km trek with the Pokémon. Although the directions state for players to “walk with their Buddy,” other methods of transportation are also viable such as jogging, biking, or even driving. Just be sure not to go too fast; otherwise, Pokémon GO‘s GPS will register the player as a “Passenger.”
Alternatively, the second method of conducting Eevee’s evolution into Espeon in Pokémon GO is naming the Pokémon a specific name. First, head into Eevee’s main information screen. Next, select the small pen-shaped icon next to the Pokémon’s name to rename it. Input the title “Sakura” to trigger an Espeon evolution. Players can know if the method worked by checking the Pokémon featured in the Evolve icon. After spending Candy ×25, players will be able to receive their new Espeon.
Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android.
