Pokemon GO Trading Card Game (TCG) Crossover Event debuted the arthropod Pokemon called Wimpod. This Bug/Water-type Pokemon itself debuted in the Pokemon Sun and Moon title for the Nintendo 3DS, which was released on November 18, 2016. Trainers worldwide have shown curiosity about this newly added Pokemon, and die-hard Pokecollectors are now eyeing its Shiny version. But where and how in Pokemon GO can you catch a Shiny Wimpod?
Where to Find Shiny Wimpod in Pokemon Go
Don’t be surprised if you’ve been wasting tons of hours looking for a Shiny Wimpod and still haven’t seen one. At the time of writing, Shiny Wimpod does not exist yet in Pokemon GO. In Pokemon Sun and Moon, though, Shiny Wimpod does exist, and it has a reddish color instead of purple, as seen above. We will update this article once The Pokemon Company and Niantic add Shiny Wimpod into the game.
For normal Wimpod, though, you can catch one in the wild along with other event-exclusive Pokemon during the Pokemon GO TCG Crossover Event, running from June 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM through June 30, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time. In addition, completing event-exclusive Field Research Tasks can also reward you with a Wimpod. Here is the list of Pokemon TCG Crossover Field Research Task rewards:
Field Research Task | Reward |
Catch 10 Pokèmon | 3 Razz Berries |
Catch 15 Pokèmon | Ivysaur, Charmelon, or Wartortle encounter |
Catch 25 Pokèmon | Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise encounter |
Catch 40 Pokèmon | Snorlax, Dragonite, or Slaking encounter |
Spin 5 PokèStops or Gyms | Wimpod encounter |
Trade a Pokèmon | Pikachu (TCG Hat) encounter |
Transfer 10 Pokèmon | 5 Pokè Balls |
Afterward, if you want to evolve Wimpod into the tough and cool-looking Golisopod, you’ll need 400 Wimpod Candies. It is as hard as evolving a Magikarp into Gyarados, but I can assure you it’s worth the shot.
