The existence of Eleven Fatui Harbingers, the shadowy executive officers of the Fatui, has now been officially revealed by Genshin Impact. Incredibly strong thanks to Delusions bestowed by Her Royal Highness Tsaritsa, they are also prominent members of Snezhnayan society with access to practically endless wealth. This time, we’ll tell you everything we currently know about Pulcinella, one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, the newly revealed threat to the Genshin Impact world of Tevyat.

Genshin Impact – Who is Pulcinella?

Pulcinella, also known as The Rooster, is a small elderly man with a pointy nose and ears that ranks Fifth in the Eleven Fatui Harbingers. He was the one who inducted Tartaglia/Childe into the Fatui, unlike some other Harbingers who were hand-picked by Pierro.

For that reason, based on the leaks from a well-known leaker, UBatcha, Childe seems to harbor respect for Pulcinella. While his motivation for joining the group is still mysterious, Childe believes that Pulcinella is an honest man when dealing with people he trusts or likes; he takes genuine care of Childe’s family and often brings gifts for Tonia and Teucer.

Information from SpendYourPrimos’s leak also reinforces this idea. The Fifth Harbinger is a high-ranking city official that cares about protecting and doing what’s best for his people. A down-to-earth hard-worker, he’s very humble while in front of his fellow Harbingers but becomes an energetic speaker in public.

Nevertheless, he is still a very calculating person. “A Company Vanishing Into the Deep” Genshin Impact Quest in The Chasm: Underground Mines reveals that Pulcinella’s subordinates bemoan that their Fatui leader won’t think twice about sacrificing “less valuable assets” for the greater good.

His silhouette appears in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail video trailer above, surrounded by his followers and ice. But it is not known whether the ice indicates that he has a Cryo Vision/Delusion power or it simply serves as a visual indicator for their Snezhnayan base.

Pulcinella Lore in Genshin Impact So Far

Not much is known about Pulcinella in Genshin Impact so far, but the Fifth Fatui Harbinger is the one who saw the potential behind Childe after he reemerged from the Abyss and his father brought him to the Fatui. The Rooster himself reckons that Childe has an “unusual taste” in combat: the more dangerous the situation is, the more excited he will be.

Much later, Pulcinella orders his men to go along with the Ninth Company to explore and study The Chasm, with Liyue Harbor as their main supply line. But then, relations between the Liyue Qixing and the Fatui deteriorated because of Tartaglia’s actions and the revival of Osial. With the supply line cut, Ninth Company and Pulcinella’s followers end up stranded in The Chasm, with the Fifth Harbinger leaving them to die without trying to send any help.

Is Pulcinella Going to be Playable?

miHoYo seems to be planning for the Eleven Fatui Harbingers to be playable characters. According to SpendYourPrimos, at least six of them will be playable in the future. In the case of Pulcinella, early information indicates that he was going to be playable, but because his in-game model has to be changed, no one is sure now.

However, SpendYourPrimos also reminds the fanbase to keep in mind that the Fatui Harbingers are part of a “5-6 year roadmap” plan. So it probably takes a (very) long time until we see some of them in a banner, and we might only start seeing them somewhere in the late 3.0 or early 4.0 Genshin Impact update.

Pulcinella Voice Actor and Trivias

The official Japanese Genshin Impact Twitter account has officially revealed that Pulcinella (mentioned as 雄鶏 or ondori in the tweet, literally translated as rooster from Japanese) is going to be voiced by Chou (チョー). Although his name seems rather generic, Chou is a prolific voice actor known for his iconic roles in various games and anime, including:

• Cyborg 007/Great Britain (Cyborg 009 [2001])
• Kazuo Yamashita (Kengan Ashura)
• Pryce (Pokemon Masters)
• Stephen (Shin Megami Tensei IV)
• Chou is also the go-to voice actor to dub Andy Serkis in various American movies, including The Lord of the Ring series.

In the Italian theater commedia dell’arte, The Rooster is a role that is portrayed as a top-heavy, chicken-shaped man with an oversized nose. This role is used for a social climber, an opportunist who always sides with the winner and is driven by self-preservation. Interestingly, in contrast to their rebellious nature, The Rooster often acts as a savior and always helps other characters out of trouble.
