This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

Here’s a question for the ages: how in the world do you evolve Pokemon Go Wurmple? You might think it would be simple – just catch a ton of them and level them up, right? But there seems to be more to it than that. So what’s the trick? After some research (and plenty of trial and error), we’ve cracked the code. Here are our top tips to evolve Wurple in Pokemon Go into Cascoon or Dustox! Read on to learn more

What is Wurmple, and how do you catch it?

Wurmple is a tiny, Caterpie-like Pokemon that’s common in the early stages of Pokemon Go. It’s one of the first Bug-type Pokemon you’ll encounter in the game, and it can be found in most areas – grassy areas, in particular.

To catch a Wurmple, use a regular Poke Ball. They’re not too tricky to see, but they can be elusive if you don’t know where to look. Keep your eyes peeled for them in areas with long grass; you should have no trouble finding one.

You can also find Wurmple in the following biomes:

  • Grassland
  • Mountain
  • Urban

How do you evolve Pokemon Go Wurmple into Cascoon or Dustox, respectively?

Pokemon Go: How to Evolve Wurmple

For those of you who are just now getting on the Pokemon Go bandwagon, one thing you should know is that there’s more to this game than just catching Pokemon. Take, for example, the humble Wurmple – this little Pokemon can evolve into two different types of Pokemon depending on how you treat it. To evolve Wurple in Pokemon Go into a Cascoon or Silcoon, you must collect 12 Wurmple candies. However, if you wait until you have 50 Wurmple candy, your Wurmple will evolve into a Dustox or Beautifly. In some ways, this development is comparable to Eevee’s, yet it appears to be a bit more challenging to figure out how to evolve your Wurmple into the form you want.

To get a Wurmple to evolve into a Cascoon, you must catch it when it’s in its cocoon stage. You can tell if a Wurmple is in this stage if it has a black mark on its head. If you wait until your Wurmple is in this stage, it will automatically evolve into a Cascoon when you collect 12 Wurmple candy.

Its gender has no bearing on its evolution or the time of day.

So there you have it – a quick primer on evolving your Wurmples in Pokemon Go. Now get out there and catch them all!

This year, three cities will have in-person events called Pokémon GO Fest. These events will occur in Dortmund, Germany, on July 4th; Chicago, the USA, on July 14-15; and Yokohama, Japan, on August 9-12.
