The Canadian Game Awards were a big ticket item on many gamer’s radars, this past week. For gaming fans, in the Great White North (Go Canada Go!), the Canadian Videogame Awards (CVA‘s) were, also, held. They acknowledged the best titles in game development in Canada. For those that may not know, there are quite a few big name studios and developers in Canada. They helm a large amount of AAA and indie titles within the gaming industry.

For example:

  • Klei – Mark of the Ninja, Don’t Starve, and Invisible Inc.
  • Ubisoft Toronto & Montreal – Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Skylanders, Far Cry series, & the Splinter Cell series
  • BioWare – Dragon Age series, KOTOR series, Mass Effect series, Neverwinter Nights
  • Square Enix Montreal – Lara Croft GO, Hitman GO
  • Metanet Software – N++

The Awards were accompanied by a new way to experience the gaming weekend, called FanFest. It was a great way to try new games, play some of the titles that were nominated, meet actors and developers, and buy awesome swag.

From the wee age of 6 he made his way to a Canadian Tire, purchased a SNES for $200 in in-store credit money (Canadian Tire money for Canadians out there), and hasn't looked back! He loves the classics like Donkey Kong, Mario, and Roller Coaster Tycoon, but is deep into the new age of gaming with Heroes of the Storm, Apex Legends, and indies like Thomas Was Alone, and Mark of the Ninja.
