A San Diego dancer who works near several military bases says she’s noticed some young soldiers splurging on dances before “deployment.” Her TikTok video has racked up over 1.6 million views, 244,000 likes, and more than 8,000 shares, and is now circulating widely across social media.

In my nearly a decade in the clubs I have never experienced anything like this tbh

The San Diego dancer, who reportedly goes by Charm, usually posts about her work as a dancer along with other aspects of her life. In one of her recent videos, she reflects on a work shift where she entertained a group of young soldiers. She explains:

So I work in a strip club next to several military bases and something I have noticed lately is all the military guys are coming in and spending all of their money. And they’re just like — it’s sad — they’re kinda depressed. And they’re just coming in, and like, we’re gonna have fun. We’re getting — what is it called? — deployed? We’re getting deployed next week.

She adds that a lot of the young soldiers are “really kind” and that it’s actually making her quite emotional thinking about it. She even describes some of the men as looking like her “pinky toe” because they’re so young.

Netizens’ Reactions to the San Diego Dancer’s Claims

The video has sparked reactions online, with many netizens expressing concern over the “deployment” claims Charm shared. On Reddit, one user wrote, “They say that NYC strippers are the first to tell when an economic downturn is coming because the Wall Street guys aren’t throwing around as much money. Guess the same applies here.” while another simply added, “Recession indicator!” Meanwhile, over on TikTok, one netizen declared, “This is boots on the ground reporting” while another chimed in with, “Baby they are doing farewell parties knowing they may not come back“. A fifth commenter penned, “My base club is next to an Air Force base in Texas. Sometimes it’s a while before my regulars come back. I’ve seen some of these guys completely change in the last year… lost all light. It’s hard to see.”

While some viewers have expressed concern about the claims in Charm’s video, it also highlights the very real anxieties many young service members may be feeling as U.S. military involvement in the war with Iran continues to evolve and prompt debate online.
