Harmonix has announced that Rock Band 4 will be receiving an all new mode starting tomorrow, December 8th. This mode will come as a free update to the game.

The December Feature Update will a new challenge for Expert players called Brutal Mode. This new mode will put even the most hardcore players’ skills to the test. How does Brutal Mode work? This mode modifies the note track to react to how well you are playing. The better you play, the harder it gets. Players who master this mode are rewarded with a new Star threshold beyond Gold: Crimson.

Along with the new mode, Harmonix is also releasing three new tracks. These tracks will also test Expert players to see how good they really are. The tracks releasing tomorrow are:

  • Between the Buried and Me – “The Coma Machine”
  • Opeth – “Heir Apparent”
  • Symphony X – “Nevermore”

Each one of the tracks can be purchased separately for $1.99 each.

Rock Band 4 builds on the core gameplay people love, with brand new features, including game-changing Freestyle Guitar Solo gameplay that allows players to craft their own face-melting and truly original guitar solos.

Rock Band 4 is available now for the Xbox One and Playstation 4. With the release of the game, there are over 1000 songs in the library for players to rock out to with their friends.
