Eric Kripke continues to dig into the cast of Supernatural for his Amazon superhero series. As The Boys season 4 has kicked off production, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in a mysterious recurring guest role.
Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys, worked with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Supernatural. It is not the first time he pulled an actor from the CW series over to the gory, bonkers superhero series, as last season saw Jensen Ackles play Soldier Boy, essentially a Captain America-like hero who was not so nice as Chris Evans’ character in the MCU. The previous season also saw Jim Beaver play the politician Robert Singer, a play on his character Bobby Singer.
The casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in The Boys has been in the making since 2020. Buzz started when the showrunner asked him to join season 3 if he was available on Twitter (seen below). The Walking Dead star replied, “in a heartbeat!” Although this did not happen, it planted the seeds for Supernatural fans to get more casting from the series to crossover into the popular Amazon show.

In a heartbeat!

It seems Kripke will not be satisfied with casting Supernatural alums like Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He told Variety that he would “love” to have Jared Padalecki come in for some kind of appearance, saying he is “always welcome.”
Outside of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, we have two other newcomers for the next season of The Boys. Valorie Curry (The Following) and Susan Heyward (Orange Is the New Black) will join the world where superheroes are the baddies. They will join with series regulars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, Jesse T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Colby Minifie, and more.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan can be currently seen in the final season of The Walking Dead. He will also join co-star Lauren Cohan for a spinoff Isle of the Dead.
A spinoff of The Boys is also in the making. Gen V will look at younger superheroes at a super university.
