Nintendo has just released their final video presentation for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS which included some details that fans have been waiting to hear about. Today’s Nintendo Direct provided an Amiibo update in addition to a stack of Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U DLC news. Introduced by director Masahiro Sakurai, this was billed as the ‘final video presentation dedicated to Super Smash Bros.’, so no more DLC is expected after this.

Bayonetta will be the final new character to be added to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, along with the previously announced Cloud Strife and main character Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates. Corrin and Bayonetta are slotted to launch as DLC next year while Cloud launches on both 3DS and Wii U later today. Cloud and the Midgar stage will be available as a download in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U for $5.99, or both game versions together for $6.99. Corrin will be available as a download in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U for $4.99, or both game versions together for $5.99. Bayonetta and the Umbra Clock Tower stage are planned for launch in February 2016, both available for download in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U for $5.99, or both game versions together for $6.99.

Bayonetta was the really big news though and becomes the one and only character to be included as a result of a fan ballot. In Europe, she was the number one choice, but in America only ‘top five’. Her character in Smash Bros. has a move-set very similar to the original games, including Wicked Weaves (punching and kicking with giant limbs), Witch Time (slow motion), and her very own hirsute demon summons.

On the Amiibo news side, it was announced that Roy and Ryu Amiibo (with the addition of a Famicon-styled R.O.B.) will be hitting stores in North America on March 18, 2016. Nintendo also confirmed that Cloud, Bayonetta, and Corrin will all get Amiibo toys. Nintendo has previously stated that every Smash Bros. fighter will get an Amiibo, so the news about the new Amiibo isn’t entirely surprising. With the final Super Smash Bros DLC set to arrive on Wii U and 3DS in February, we can probably expect more Amiibo related news.

Also due out starting from February is a host of new costumes and hats for Mii Fighters – the customisable characters that are based on the gunner, sword fighter, and brawler classes.

Earlier this year, Nintendo revealed that more than 20 million Amiibo have been sold worldwide. As per usual, more information about these upcoming amiibo figures will be revealed in the future. Stay tuned for details!
