Peter Farrelly (Green Book) confirmed to Deadline that his next film is in the works. The R-rated comedy will be pulsing with muscles as John Cena and Zac Efron are in talks to join Ricky Stanicky. The former will play the titled role, while details are unknown about the intended role for the Baywatch star. Although the deals are not sealed, the film is planned to begin production in early 2023.
While getting more serious in his later years with Green Book and his upcoming World War II movie, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, which stars the Neighbors actor, Farrelly is planning to step back into his roots. Back in the day, he directed Dumb & Dumber, Me, Myself and I, and Kingpin. The filmmaker plans on a raunchy comedy that will also have a “message” that he hopes will “resonate” with audiences. He and John Jacobs will produce the film.
Although what Zac Efron brings to Ricky Stanicky is in the dark, John Cena, in the role, finds himself helping out a group of husbands. They pay him $1,000 to act like their friend after their wives question this friend, who they hear so much about but never attended their weddings, outings, and parties. Now that they brought this character to life, people have grown attached, and now they are unable to get rid of the Peacemaker actor.
John Cena and Zac Efron are in talks to join the comedy Ricky Stanicky
Both Zac Efron and John Cena have more than proven themselves for a raunchy comedy like Ricky Stanicky. Recently, the wrestler-turned-actor starred in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and led his own series, Peacemaker, which is set for a second season. Besides killing aliens and dancing in his underwear, he has also starred in Trainwreck. Meanwhile, his potential co-star has done films like Baywatch and both Neighbors films with Seth Rogan.
