The Strangers are coming

Whoever wished for a prequel to the 2008 horror movie The Strangers, consider your wish granted because The Strangers: Chapter 1 is coming to theaters. Directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2), Chapter 1 sees the Strangers attack another couple in an isolated home, this time in an Airbnb. The film stars Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale), and Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf) as Maya and Ryan, respectively. As it’s a horror movie with sequels in the works, you might be wondering if there’s anything after the credits. So, let’s look at whether or not The Strangers: Chapter 1 has a post-credits scene.

Is There a Post-Credits Scene in The Strangers: Chapter 1?

You should stay in your seat for a minute because The Strangers: Chapter 1 does have a post-credits scene. You won’t need to wait for long, as the short scene occurs after the first batch of credits. It takes place right where the movie left off, even though the movie ends with a “To Be Continued…” card. They probably weren’t referring to the post-credits scene that follows the card by about a minute. You won’t want to miss the scene if you like horror movies giving you one final scare before leaving the theater.

The cliffhanger ending sets up another movie, which makes sense considering both The Strangers: Chapter 2 and The Strangers: Chapter 3 have already been filmed. Chapter 2 is already slated to be released later this year, with Chapter 3 planned for some time after. The Strangers: Chapter 1 didn’t necessarily need a post-credits scene. “To Be Continued…” heavily implies that the movie’s over, so it might have played better to combine the ending and post-credits scene as one ending scene.

So, if you chugged a little too much soda during the film you should probably try and make it a couple of minutes after the film ends before leaving the theater. If you wanted, you could also watch all the names of the people who worked on the movie. If you enjoyed it, remember that there are sequels on the way and that you can always track down the original movie if you want to see more of The Strangers.

You can catch the Strangers when The Strangers: Chapter 1 releases in theaters on May 17, 2024.
