A surprise demo released by Microsoft for Rise of the Tomb Raider appeared Sunday night on the Xbox Store for Xbox One.  The trial is available to download now and will take up 21GB on your hard drive. It is not immediately clear what’s included with the trial or what limitations it might have. Nevertheless, considering how uncommon Xbox One game demos are currently, this is pretty big news!

Rise of the Tomb Raider was one of the major titles Xbox fans were expecting this year. Even though it brought in good reviews, sales haven’t been as high as expected. It’s likely that sales of this title were impacted since it was launched alongside Fallout 4, and Halo 5 shortly prior. Despite not making the top ten US physical sales chart for its launch month, the game has “done well,” according to Microsoft marketing executive Aaron Greenberg. It is one of the best critically acclaimed games for the Xbox One in 2015. We can probably expect sales to go up since Christmas is right around the corner, and the PC release of the game is relatively soon.

The title officially arrived on Xbox One on Nov. 10, 2015, and PC owners expect to play it on their high-performance rigs at the beginning of 2016. Unfortunately for PlayStation 4 owners, the game is not expected to be released until late 2016. Stay tuned for details!

I believe that games are an important form of entertainment, and that they can uplift and inspire millions of people around the world. I love JRPGs, and dabble in many other genres, especially MOBAs.
