Guess what horror fans? It appears that the popular TV adaptation from the comic, Tales from the Crypt is getting a reboot. Thanks to M. Night Shyamalan we can expect the new series to premiere in the fall of 2016 however, there are going to be some changes. Some that fans of the original series may not be happy about.

Tales from the Crypt will be returning to TV this time on TNT where it was previously seen on HBO. That could mean a more tame show that what’s been seen in the past. The show is expected to have an hour run time and will not be following a weekly anthology style. It will instead have one story told over 13 episodes, with the first reportedly revolving around a New Orleans Voodoo curse. The Crypt Keeper will also not be returning for the new series…well sort of.

The new Crypt Keeper will be an old man in a hood with a cane that tells the story each night while sitting beside a fire. This version appears to be a bit similar to the comic than the HBO version who was voiced by John Kassir. The HBO version of the Crypt Keeper was created specifically for the show which they still own the rights to, thus the reason for creating the new Crypt Keeper. John Kassir is not expected to reprise his role of the character for the new series.

The new series is said to be coming from the writers behind the Netflix original, Hemlock Grove. TNT is creating a two-hour horror block of programming with Tales from the Crypt as the flagship. The network president at TNT is hoping for this series to serve as an umbrella for various future shows and genres. What do you think about the Crypt Keeper being changed? Will this show succeed on a cable network like TNT? Be sure to let us know in the comments below and check back for future updates.
