The Wyvern Boss's Entrance in Sonic Frontiers
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

The second Titan that Sonic the Hedgehog must defeat during his adventure in Sonic Frontiers is the Wyvern, a massive dragon-like boss capable of unleashing missile barrages and executing deadly slash attacks with its claws and tail. This boss fight begins after players have completed a color-matching puzzle on Ares Island, which involves placing orbs into slots that match their color. Once the puzzle has been passed, the Wyvern will make its entrance soaring near a lofty spire towering into the sky. To get started on the boss battle, players must approach the tower and ascend its multiple on-rails platforming sections to reach the top, where they will face the mechanical beast.

Wyvern Starting Phase 2 in Sonic Frontiers

The first portion of the Wyvern boss battle in Sonic Frontiers requires players to first catch the Titan by running along a floating red track left behind by the serpent. The only thing players need to be wary of is making sure not to come into contact with the slow-moving fireball obstacles along the way.

After reaching the body of the Wyvern boss in Sonic Frontiers, players will gain the ability to transform into Super Sonic, during which they can fly and are invulnerable to damage. However, the challenge of defeating the flying serpent still remains. During this next portion of the fight, players must fly after the beast in a Star Fox mission-style manner, meaning they can control Sonic’s movements within the limitation of the fixed camera. The main elements players should look out for are when the Wyvern fires its barrage of missiles at Sonic. As soon as this occurs, hold down the parry triggers on their gamepad to have the hedgehog send one of the projectiles back to the boss.

The Wyvern’s next attack in Sonic Frontiers will be a slash, during which players must hold down the parry inputs again to defeat the boss. After being parried, the Titan will suffer a moment of vulnerability when players must unleash all their offensive abilities within a short period. The slash and missile attacks will occur several times during the battle. During the later portions of the fight, players must also perform QTEs (Quick-Time Events), similar to the fishing minigame with Big. These QTEs will take place approximately when the Wyvern has less than 25% HP, after which players can repeat parrying and attacking until the Titan has fallen.

Sonic Frontiers is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
