Want to know where to find Axew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? With the release of Scarlet and Violet, fans of the Pokémon universe get to over a hundred new Pokémon, but the Paldea region isn’t just about newbies. Many beloved Pokemon from previous generations have also joined the new game, and one of them is Axew. This little dragon has a lot of potential as it can evolve into Fraxure and Haxorus later on. Therefore, you should get it as soon as possible, and our guide will help you with this and tell you where to find Axew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

(Updated on August 22, 2024 – Updated links).

Where to Find Axew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Like every other Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, Axew has several main habitats. So to find Axew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you should check out the following locations:

  • Glaseado Mountain
  • North Province (Area One)
  • South Province (Area Five)

It is worth noting that in the southeast of Paldea, Axew encounters a little less often than in the more northern parts of the game world. It is probably because in the colder areas of the map, such as Glaseado Mountain and North Province (Area One), roam Fraxure, representatives of the second form of Axew evolution.

As soon as you meet Axew, challenge him, but first of all, gather the right team. Since Axew is a Dragon-type Pokémon, it is weak against Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. These attack types deal 2x damage to it, so choose Pokemon that use these skills. These recommendations apply if you encounter Fraxure, as evolution does not rid this Pokémon of this genetic weakness.

However, as soon as you defeat and catch Axew, he will become your faithful companion throughout the game. Although we still recommend getting a few of these Pokémon for several reasons:

  • First, you should find an Axew with the best Nature like Adamant or Jolly, Stats, and Abilities. Later, you will be able to develop Axew into Haxorus. And you will want to use this Pokemon until the end of the game. So if you get an Axew with better base stats, give him the best, including better Held Item and Hyper Training with Gold Bottle Caps.
  • The second reason is the material that you get by defeating Axew. Fighting this Pokémon will give you Axew Scales, which you can use to craft some Dragon-type TMs: TM064 (Bulk Up), TM078 (Dragon Claw), and TM156 (Outrage).
