Tandemaus, the adorable pair of mouse-like Pokemon, can increase itself once evolved. However, what that evolution will look like is random. Before you can get in on the surprise, you’ll need to learn how to evolve Tandemaus in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Thanks to our guide, you’ll get through that evolution in no time so you can add more Pokemon to your Pokedex. Maybe you’ll even catch multiple Tandemaus creatures for a chance to witness both evolutions.

Tandemaus, a Normal-type Pokemon, will evolve into Maushold. There’s no fuss needed, like trading or finding a specific item. All you need to do is battle with Tandemaus until they reach Level 25 for the evolution to take place. You can raise your companion’s level quickly when you battle wild Pokemon or trainers at a higher level. Use items like a Shell Bell to ensure your Pokemon doesn’t fall in battle.

Once you reach that Level 25 threshold in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Tandemaus will evolve. However, the appearance can differ based on chance. Tandemaus can evolve either into a Family of 3 or a Family of 4. Again though, this is random. The Family of 3 is rarer, so many players will probably get the Family of 4.

However, there is no difference in battle once Tandemaus evolves in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. So, it’s perfectly fine no matter which form you receive.

Tandemaus is found in various areas in Paldea. However, they are a rare sight, and they have a low spawn rate. Look just outside of cities and towns for better chances of finding them in these areas:

  • Artazon
  • East Province (Area Two)
  • Levincia
  • Porto Marinada
  • The Pokemon League

Perhaps your best chance to get Tandemaus early in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is to search around The Pokemon League building. Now with the Normal-type Tandemaus in your party, start battling to reach Level 25 to roll the dice on which version of Maushold you’ll come away with.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is available on Nintendo Switch.
