A new cartoon set in the DC superhero universe is headed to Cartoon Network later this year. This new cartoon is dubbedย Justice League Action, and it will follow the exploits of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman as they lead a rotating stable of DC heroes against all manner of dangers. It will feature eleven-minute episodes, similar toย Teen Titans Go! meaning action will never be far away. Along with announcing the show itself, some of the voice talent will surely please longtime fans of DC’s animated efforts.
Batman himself, Kevin Conroy, will be reprising his role as the caped crusader. Conroy should be familiar to fans as Batman’s voice from the excellentย Batman: The Animated Series, as well asย theย Arkham video games. Also reprising his role fromย Batman: TAS is Mark Hamill as the Joker. Although both the Joker and Batman have been played by some huge stars on the silver screen, there are still plenty of fans who would name these two actors as the definitive versions of their characters.
A few other big names lending their voice to the case ofย Justice League Action include Deidrich Bader as Booster Gold and James Woods as Lex Luthor. Bader may be more familiar to people from live action comedies such asย The Drew Carey Show andย Napoleon Dynamite, but he has done a huge amount of voice work, including work onย Batman: The Brave and the Bold andย Green Lantern. James Woods is no stranger to voice work either. In addition to his many major live action roles, Woods has appeared as himself multiple times onย Family Guy and had an excellent run as Hades in Disney’sย Hercules.
In addition, to bringing a great stable of voice actors to the fast-paced show,ย Justice League Action will also boast a talented group of showrunners. Sam Register, Butch Lukic, Alan Burnett, and Jim Krieg are all playing roles in the show’s production. They have all worked in some capacity on the various successful DC superhero shows, includingย Batman: The Animated Series,ย Teen Titans Go!, andย Justice League.
