Nasty Plot is a Dark-type TM Move in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that can be taught to a wide variety of pocket monsters, enabling them to temporarily increase their Special Attack in combat. Pikachu, Raichu, Slowking, and Houndoom are Pokémon that can learn Nasty Move by default without the need for a TM. Likewise, approximately thirty pocket monsters, such as Farigiraf, Hydreigon, or Grimmsnarl, can learn Nasty Move by leveling up. On the other hand, once Trainers get their hands on the TM140 for Nasty Move, they can teach this Dark-type ability to over seventy pocket monsters in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Unlocking Nasty Plot TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
There are two options to unlock the Nasty Plot TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The first method involves completing every History Lesson at the Academy and catching the four Legendary Treasures of Ruin of Paldea. Once these monumental tasks have been fulfilled, Trainers can receive their TM140 reward from Ms. Raifort in the Mesagoza Staff Room.
Completionists who plan to experience all the content Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have to offer will likely see History Lesson participation and the hunt for the four Treasures of Ruin as minor activities on their road to 100% completion. On the other hand, casual fans who only want the Nasty Move TM in Scarlet and Violet will likely see these tasks as too much of a hassle for the Dark-type Special Attack buff. Fortunately, YouTuber Xion0014 has edited gameplay footage demonstrating a much easier way to acquire the Nasty Move TM.
According to Xion0014, Trainers can get the Nasty Plot TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by exploring a portion of Area Zero, aka The Great Crater of Paldea. Those who have completed the three storylines of the main campaign will gain access to Area Zero during the postgame. Completing the game is still a challenge, but it is a task that most players will fulfill regardless if they are actively searching for the TM. After entering The Great Crater, head to Research Station No. 2. Starting from the level’s entrance, face the cliff wall to the left, behind the research station. Climb up the vertical cliffside to the top of the ridge. Go to the second shelf on this ridge and loot the yellow Poké Ball by the single-round boulder to acquire the Nasty Plot TM. Game8 states that the recipe for this TM is the following:
- Meowth Fur ×3
- Spiritomb Fragment ×3
- Tatsugiri Scales ×3
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
