Destiny

You might not hear as much about Destiny as you once did. This is predominately because there is a bit of a crowd gathering onstage with many A-list titles taking spotlight. However, what you shouldn’t forget is that Destiny is still a very big deal. A year and a half after its initial release, its player count is more than strong. Being able to boast a higher concurrent player count now than when it first hit the shelves is remarkable. Especially when you consider the rapid-fire pace game developers are moving at to put out new titles and content. To brag further, with the hype surrounding the release of the anticipated expansion “The Taken King”, it became the most day-one downloaded game in Playstation history. To achieve this long after the hysteria of the initial release of Destiny is impressive. However, this is not a fan-boy piece. 6 months past “The Taken King”, players are raising some eyebrows.

Destiny

Destiny fans are hungry for more content. One of the largest appeals about the game was Bungie’s promise to release expansive additional stories and content-and often. We were promised a story and game that would extend to over a decade of new content. In the past, Bungie has been thorough with providing information and punctual about providing a release date to eager gamers. For the first time, Bungie has been ambiguous about future game production this is making even the most consistent players a bit uneasy. To some, it might feel as if Bungie is not living up to their previous claims of constant new material being placed at our feet for us to enjoy. So what can you expect next?

Destiny

We do know that a “Taken King” size DLC will be released later in 2016. With the success and size of the last expansion, this is definitely something to forward to. Activision and Bungie both seem unwavering at the notion that a decline in player population is possible with the current “downtime” the title is experiencing. With 25 million players and consistently the most watched console game on Twitch. So when can we expect this large expansion?

“Our model assumes a Taken King-sized expansion for Destiny, late in 2016.”

Until then there is still plenty to do on the popular sci-fi shooter. So hope on your space-wizard or celestial-titan and enjoy the Crucible, gear collecting, reputation grinding, and jumping off the edge of the Tower Plaza (you know you want to.)

Are you please with the amount of content and current expansions? Leave a comment below and let us know!
