Better grab your BFG 9000 because the trip through hell won’t be a quick one. According to Id Software, the Doom campaign will take around 13 + hours to complete. You can check out the tweet here on Doom’s official twitter page. Obviously, the 13 + hours is dependent on the degree of difficulty in which you play the game, with that time being referred to as the “office average.”

Revenant firing Rockets

Doom will also have a significant multiplayer addition which will certainly add to the hours of gameplay. A closed Alpha for the multiplayer has already taken place with an open beta expected to be announced soon. Doom will not feature a Co-op campaign, however. Marty Stratton of Id Software said recently that this release of Doom will focus solely on the single player experience. It’s certainly refreshing to see the campaign experience being given some solid treatment. A fair amount of FPS campaigns now will only run you a six to a ten-hour time frame on your average difficulty. Wolfenstein: The New Order was also published by Bethesda and similarly got this treatment.

Even though Doom will not feature a Co-Op campaign, the game will release with a built in mod tool called Snapmap. According to the Doom website Snapmap is a “powerful, but easy-to-use game and level editor that allows for limitless gameplay experiences on every platform. Anyone can snap together and customize maps, add pre-defined or custom gameplay, and edit game logic to create new modes. Instantly play your creation or make it available to players around the world.” This mode will be available to ALL versions of the game. Meaning Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Doom releases on May 13th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. A special collectors edition for the game is also being released which you can check out on the Bethesda website.
