Overwatch 2 Season 3 will launch on February 7, 2023. The season will include a new map, changes to the reward system, new skins, and a Battle Pass. The ultimate charge system will be altered, and hero designers will resolve issues with heroes with imbalanced ultimates. Season 3 features a new map called Antarctic Peninsula. Set in the Antarctic Circle, this map features a load of cool secrets, expansive labs to explore, a frozen ship, and penguins!
Overwatch 2 Season 3 will have a new Mythic skin for Kiriko, Amaterasu Kiriko, which can acquired at the final tier of the premium battle pass. Mythic skins are unique, and only one hero receives one per season. In previous seasons, Genji and Junker Queen received Mythic skins.
Mercy will be nerfed, along with minor balance changes for other support heroes. The season’s updated matchmaker system roles will ensure both teams are similarly ranked so that there’s unfairness in matchmaking. Here are a few more changes to expect, according to the official dev team:
“The health totals for all tanks will be lower when playing any game mode that does not have a role queue to address the relative power of those heroes in game modes where there can be multiple of the same hero on the same team.
Health totals will remain the same for tanks when playing any Role Queue enabled game. Maximum ultimate charge retained when swapping heroes is reduced from 30 to 25%.
Season 3 will offer even more rewards just for logging in and playing. There will be 10 additional tiers of rewards on the free track, as well as 1500 Credits to earn and spend in the Hero Gallery.”
