EA, DICE and the developers of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, have shown off gameplay footage of Faith’s traversal moves for the upcoming game.

Labeled as a Movement trailer, it showcases some of the familiar parkour moves we’ve seen from the original Mirror’s Edge, but with some new ways to get around the cityscapes. One of those is seen below, the pipe swing:

The developers have released previously story and combat trailers, but this one is a cool look into what we all really love about the game, the fluid movement. Based on previous news and seeing this new footage, it appears as though the animations and capabilities of Faith have been drastically improved over the original game. Yes, it’s a trailer, but it does seem like there will be less momentum-halting stops into walls or unopened doors, this time around.

The fluidity of movement, and how your mind, hands, and controller work in unison is key in Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.

The trailer also shows off more of the beautiful skylines and environments Catalyst will offer. The world that Faith and her fellow “rouges” live in is already a cool take on the future, and it appears as though more of the big cityscapes will be explored here. Great lighting effects and textures pop with every turn as Faith runs and dodges her obstacles and enemies.

Mirror's Edge
Faith is ready. Are you?

The game will be released in May of this year, with a newly announced beta coming to PS4, XBOX One, and PC soon. There is no set release date for the beta, but I’d suspect to see it out for testing quite soon. The long-awaited sequel is just months away, are you excited?
