At this year’s GDC, Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive announced Tyranny, a brand-new role-playing game heading to Windows, Mac, and Linux. Obsidian entertainment is the studio behind award-winning titles such as Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. Tyranny introduces players to an original fantasy world where after a brutal clash between good and evil has taken place – evil has emerged triumphant. The game will feature a nonlinear story that will challenge players to find their role within the dominant empire and live with the outcomes of difficult, morally unclear decisions.

As stated above, Tyranny takes place after the grand war between good and evil is over – and the forces of evil, led by Kyros the Overlord, have won. The Overlord’s merciless armies now dominate the face of the world and its inhabitants must find their new roles within the war-torn realm. Players will interact with the populace to inspire loyalty, disgust, or fear as they roam the world as an officer in Kyros’ forces, empowered to act as both judge and executioner.
