Netflix’s Outer Banks season 3 has been out since last Thursday, February 23rd, and it completely broke the internet. It is a lot like Netflix’s Wednesday taking over TikTok when it dropped; Outer Banks is no different this time. In the past, there have been steamy scenes from the characters in the series, like John B. and Sarah. There has been both a sex scene to very intense kissing scenes that gave the watchers butterflies.
How Does The Outer Banks Cast Feel About The Intimate Scenes?
Madelyn Cline has been one of the cast members to speak out about doing romantic scenes on the show, as her character Sarah Cameron has been with Topper and John B. (Chase Strokes) in the show. Back in May 2020, the year the first season was released, Cline talked about how she would prepare for these scenes and makeout sessions with Strokes.
“Kissing onscreen is very awkward because you have to worry about angles, and you have to worry about where the camera is, and you have to remember where your head was in this moment, it’s very … it’s a little nerve-racking, and at the same time, you have to make sure you’re not eating each other’s faces. It still has to look good. It definitely wasn’t a one-and-done.”
As many fans of Outer Banks will remember, the scene above took place in the first season. It was supposed to take place on a sunny day, but rain began to fall while filming and the crew decided to flow with it and recreate a kiss in the rain like in The Notebook.
“I remember Chase, Jonas, and I kinda looked at each other, and we were all like, ‘let’s do it. We gotta do this. This is amazing, this is kismet right now, that is so romantic,’” Cline went on to say. “We made sure with our camera department and everybody that it was OK because you’re asking a lot of people to stand out in the rain. [The crew] was like, ‘hell yes, we’re doing this, full Notebook vibes.’ And, yeah, so, we just dedicated the entire day to making sure we did that scene justice.”
Making out is one thing, but a sex scene is a whole another, and Cline spoke a bit about the steamy scenes she had to do for this role. “That was a choice that Valerie Weiss — our director for 7 and 8 — Chase and myself made,” Cline said. “We wanted there to be a differentiation between the scene with Topper and the scene with John B. It was dictated in the script that Topper and Sarah are getting pretty hot and heavy, and there’s a little bit of partial nudity going on.”
She then went on to say that in episode 3, you really saw Topper pushing for third base, but it was obvious Sarah had said no before. They wanted to see a difference in the hot and heavy scene between Sarah and John B, so instead, this time, Sarah was driving it.
