Kendra Muecke of Kendra & the Bunnies has experienced her fair share of anxiety, heightened by one terrifying night which saw her come face to face with an intruder. The star, who has a history of panicky thinking and self-imposed paranoia, recently went candid about one of her most terrifying encounters, which ended with the cops storming her family’s home in rural Petaluma, California.
Opening up in an interview with People, the star explained how anxiety took different forms for different individuals. For some, it hit as panic attacks, while others take the form of paranoia. Nonetheless, it had the same effect on people, defining those anxious feelings of having something going on, forcing the mind and body into a state of “trying to figure it out.” While these feelings may appear to toy with one’s mental health, Kendra deemed it as some form of defense mechanism, noting that it protected her.
Kendra Muecke Reflects On Her Run-In With An Intruder
Buttressing her point, Kendra recalled a night she spent with her aunt and uncle at their home in rural Petaluma, California. Being surrounded by family, she dropped her usual protective shield of paranoia and settled in for the night. After a turn in the hot tub, she proceeded to watch Netflix on her phone but kept having the tugging feeling that someone was watching her. However, she chose to ignore the gut feeling, reminding herself she was safe in the country with her family. She recalled:
“I felt like something was going on. But then I was like, ‘No, this needs to end today. You’re watching Netflix, you’re in the country. Let it go.'”
The 30-year-old’s decision to ignore the feelings soon backfired. Kendra Muecke, who performs under the stage name Kendra & the Bunnies, explained how she decided to take a shower at about midnight but received a shocker when she spotted the intruder. At first, she dismissed the shadowy figure as a family member or perhaps the family’s dog. But when it drew close enough to make out the face, the reality of her situation hit her. She quipped:
“All of it started to hit me at once, and I just started screaming. My family was asleep, so it took a few minutes for them to come down. I think we were all in shock.”
The Encounter Equipped Kendra With Important Safety Tips
While the intruder fled before the others arrived, cops, who they immediately summoned, noticed ladder marks on the window, believed to be the intruder‘s entry point. Since then, Kendra has spent moments overthinking that scary night in an attempt to figure out “what happened and why.” She has also strived not to let her guard down again, utilizing useful safety tips she’s picked up along the way. She shared:
“Know your surroundings, leave a light on, communicate with the people around you, keep your phone close, lock your bathroom door. It’s just little things that are bits of information people think about, but they should.”
So far, these tips have made Kendra Muecke feel safe in the wake of her disturbing intruder ordeal, and she hoped everyone else understood their importance and include them in their daily lives.
